According to a recent Apple patent, a future iPad might have the capacity to morph into a macOS-like user experience when connected to an external keyboard. Multiple illustrations show how this device may be removed from the keyboard and used solitary, similar to how users can now disconnect the iPad from the Magic Keyboard, adding credence to the fact that the patent displays an iPad and keyboard combo.

Patently Apple originally published the patent; Apple patents a vast number of ideas each year, but only a small percentage of them are ever executed. However, this patent outlines a piece of basic hardware, such as a keyboard with keys and a touchpad, that may be used with an iPad-like computing device, such as an iPad, to provide a macOS-like experience when using an Apple Pencil.

Other illustrations in the patent application illustrate how the computing device may be removed from the keyboard and used solo, similar to how users can now disconnect the iPad from the Magic Keyboard, adding credence to the fact that the patent displays an iPad and keyboard combo.

Finally Apple could make the M1 in the iPad actually useful, also it would be kinda weird on the 11" iPad pro lol (I also think that you forgot to add that this might the be 20" folding MacBook that Mark Gurman was talking about)
