Apple recently acquired a startup that can generate personalized music using artificial intelligence. Using their "Infinite Music Engine," AI Music aimed to create music tailored to individual users for marketing teams, publishers, fitness trainers, and creative businesses.
The company's technology is able to create soundtracks for users that change based on their interactions. For example, workout music could be altered by the software depending on a user's heartbeat measured by an Apple Watch. Apple's current setup of Apple Fitness+ seems to integrate pre-selected songs into some of the workouts, such as their Dance and HIIT workouts, currently not allowing for an AI-personalized music selection. However, I think Apple could keep those ones as they are, and customize other workout videos with the AI, such as Core and Strength, which are less integrated with particular songs. Another use for the software could be Memories in the Photos app, as they currently use royalty-free music.
AI Music's website was taken down following the sale to Apple. However, their previous LinkedIn page stated they were "on a mission to redefine how we create, interact, and experience music." The UK-based company described their software as an advertising tool that could be used to create sound that matches with user context, such as their mood.
AI Music allows brands, developers and sonic adventurers access to our intelligent music library. Our goal is to give consumers the power to choose the music they want, seamlessly edited to fit their needs or create dynamic solutions that adapt to fit their audiences.
