Ten years later (few days/weeks later actually), we finally got more leaks about the Apple VR headset.

In Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, the Apple VR/AR headset is not likely to replace the iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Instead, it focuses on three key features: gaming, media consumption, and communication. Apple is already working on with media partners to make this happen.

Thats pretty much it… But if you want a quick recap, here:

  • Apple AR/VR Headset can work in both environments: Virtual Reality & Augmented Reality in high-quality games with fast processors and high-end displays which is a pair of 4K Micro-OLED displays from Sony.

  • it will obviously also have two 4K/8K cameras to get Augmented Reality to work.

  • In terms of its ”fast processors”, it is to have two separate processors: a processor similar to the M1 unless it is actually the M1 being thrown to and a processor basically responsible of sensor-related computing.

  • Expected to be released on Q4 2022.

He has also made a list on what to expect from Apple next year:

  • A new iPad Pro design with wireless charging, plus updates to the iPad Air and entry-level iPad.

  • A revamped, high-end iMac with Apple silicon to sit above the new 24-inch model.

  • An iPhone SE with 5G.

  • New AirPods Pro earbuds.

  • The biggest MacBook Air revamp in the product’s history, adding the M2 chip and a new design.

  • New versions of the Mac mini, entry-level MacBook Pro and a revamped Mac Pro with Apple silicon.

  • Of course, the iPhone 14 lineup.

  • Three fresh Apple Watches, including a new Apple Watch SE, an updated standard model, and a ruggedized version aimed at extreme sports athletes.

  • And, probably most significantly, the introduction of Apple’s first mixed augmented and virtual reality headset.

And that’s pretty much it, really.
