According to a news article from St. Louis Patti Sohn, a retired nurse practitioner who is very active and works out often claims an Apple Watch saved her life by alerting her of a low heartbeat.

Back in August, she says she was sitting on her couch, watching TV just doing normal things when her Apple Watch started 'beeping' at her because her heart rate was unusually low, around 40 bpm.

She went to the hospital and had some tests and her heart rate went back to normal again. She went home with a device to monitor her, but only 4 days later her Apple Watch alerted her again that her heart rate was low. Again, she went back to the hospital, and this time she had to have a pacemaker put in.

Her story is one of the many on how an Apple Watch can and will continue to save lives as time goes on and technology gets better.

She said "I know this is not a medical device but I really believe it saved my life by alerting me to my heart rate because I would not have gone to the hospital,” in an interview with KMOV4.

But, in a way the Apple Watch is a medical device, right? Vote in the poll below!
