A new report from TheElec says that Apple will soon introduce the under display Face ID technology or hole punch design in the iPhone 15 Pro lineup using Samsung’s Technology.

Diving into the report, they mentioned that Samsung Display is working on a new technology which is the under-display Face ID Technology that uses a metal patterning layer or transparent cathode mask materials. They collaborated with Canada’s OTI Lumionics to make this happen, as they have their own technology that can use fine metal masks to deposit cathode patterning materials without being deposited on the patterning material.

Thanks to this, the iPhone 15 Pro may have only the hole punch design we first expected from the original iPhone 14 leak. And this technology is expected to be thrown into Samsung’s foldable phones, including the Z Fold and Z Flip that will launch next year followed by the iPhone 15 Pro.

My Take: Since the iPhone 15 Pro will be getting the hole punch design using Samsung’s Technology, the pill shape and hole punch design should be used in the base iPhone 15 lineup. And given by TheElec’s credibility despite not having enough information, it is still possible to be used, but will likely happen in the next 2-3 years according to SaranByte.
