Its now rumored to see a redesigned MacBook Air at WWDC, here are the changes we expect. Mwahaha, Kyle. (Give him a follow)

Chip

We expect to see an M2 chip in the MacBook Air because Apple said there will be no more M1 chip. The M2 chip will be the successor to the M1 with a more powerful 10-core GPU.

Ports & Charging

MagSafe may come to this MacBook Air, it would make sense considering Apple brought it back to the MacBook Pro, and users love it. Apple is also rumored to have 2 Thunderbolt ports on this Mac with one on each side. We won't see a HDMI or SD card slot, because Apple does need to keep some space between the MacBook Air & Pro.

New Design

Since the release of the M1 iMac in 2021, the MacBook Air is also rumored to feature color options in its next redesign. We think the body will feature a few different colors, and either a white or off-white keyboard + bezels.

M2 vs M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra

The M2 WILL NOT outperform the M1 Pro, Max, or Ultra. Apple would not put so much power into a laptop as "cheap"¹ as the MacBook Air. The M1 Pro & up will outperform it, but the M2 will outperform the regular M1. For example, see below.

Left to Right = Least to Most Performance

M1 ~ M2 ~ M1 Pro ~ M1 Max ~ M1 Ultra

And when the M2 Pro, Max, etc. chips come it will probably look like this.

M1 ~ M2 ~ M1 Pro ~ M2 Pro ~ M1 Max ~ M2 Max ~ M1 Ultra ~ M2 Ultra

And the M3 could maybe be similar to M1 Pro, but we don't need to worry about that right now. What I'm trying to say is don't buy an M2 MacBook Air because you think it will out-perform a maxed out M1 Ultra Mac Studio.

¹ $999 is not cheap for a starting price, no. But I mean "cheap" from the viewpoint of Apple.
