Apple is working on a next-generation MacBook Air, which will feature a redesign, the M2 Chip, and more. So, hereis everything we know on the next MacBook Air.

Ports

When Apple released the new M1 Pro/M1 Max (High-end) MacBook Pro's, Apple added back the ports we all know and love, while the current M1 MacBook Air still doesn't have the ports back. Well, unfortunatly we don't expect this to change. Apple has to have some differences between the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro, and ports seems to be one of them. The only port that could come to the MacBook Air is MagSafe, but we still aren't sure about that one.

M2 Chip

We can speculate that Apple's next chip in the M-lineup is the M2 since the first one was M1. According to MacRumors, the M2 chip could feature 8 computing cores, which is the same as the M1 but a few more GPU cores (9 or 10, M1 has 7 or 8).

Design

2D Render by @euritechyt

The next MacBook Pro will probably be thinner and lighter, with off-white bezels and keyboard. The MacBook Air is also expected to have the same color options as the 24" M1 iMac (blue, green, pink, silver, yellow, orange, and purple).

Display

Apple could add mini-LED to this MacBook Air, but Ross Young says otherwise. We aren't sure if this MacBook Air will feature a notch like the high-end MacBook Pro's, but its certainly possible. The MacBook Air is expected to come in either 13.3" or 13.6" although we are not sure.

Keyboard

We don't think we will see a Touch Bar on this Mac, and we probably will see the same style of keyboard as the MacBook Pro, just white.

Camera

The MacBook Air currently has a 720p camera, and the next MacBook Air should feature a 1080p camera, like the MacBook Pro.

Naming

Dylandkt thinks Apple may take away the "Air" naming and it just being called the MacBook. (We will refrence it as the MacBook Air) We don't know if it will happen though, but Apple discontinued the "MacBook" in July of 2019, so it wouldn't be suprising to see Apple drop the name.

Price & Release

We can expect the MacBook Air to be announced at WWDC or this fall, but sometime in 2022. Also, we think it will maintain the same price, starting from $999.
