Note: This article by no means is attempting to take political sides, as this is just observations.
Last night I stayed up until midnight to download Truth Social, which is Former President Trump's social media platform. Ever since the capital riots in January of 2021, he has been banned from every major social media platform, including his favorite, Twitter.
Since then, Trump has been developing a new social media app called Truth Social. Truth Social has an official website, and you can find them on the Apple App Store.
From the screenshots on the App Store, it really seems like a knockoff of Twitter. But, Trump’s favorite app was probably Twitter, so not too surprising. Instead of Tweets, you can send Truths, instead of Re-Tweets, its Re-Truths, and your feed is a Truth Feed.

The description of the app says this:
What makes Truth Social different!? We are a social media platform that is free from political discrimination. Join us and share, communicate, and have fun!

This is strange considering the strong political approach that he took on Twitter.
Now, to the actual app. If you sign up now, you will be put on a waitlist. Currently, I’m number 95,575 on the waitlist and I got the username @tcook. I’ve always wanted a rare username and hopefully, this will help me achieve it. lol
When I was in the process of signing up, I was faced with many error messages, and it took me over an hour to sign up. Then around 1 AM (I started the sign-in process at 11:45 PM, took a break at midnight, then started again later hoping it would work), and after a few more failed attempts I’m finally on the waiting list.
Since December, it's been in beta testing with around 500 users on it, and now it's finally out. Devin Nunes, who has something to do with it, said in an interview that he hoped the app would be fully operational by the end of March. Right now it's iPhone only, and the Truth Social website will be available on Android soon.
Adding on to the waitlist, there are already well over 180,000 people on the waitlist. We look will have to wait (for the final release) to see how the app actually is, but from the screenshots from the App Store, It has definitely taken some inspiration from Twitter.
Also, just something to mention is that Truth Social is #1 on the Apple App Store’s Top Charts.
