In Mark Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, he has reported some information regarding the Apple AR/VR headset, the Apple Events, and the codenames for this year’s WWDC.

First off, he reported about Apple’s upcoming Mixed Reality headset, which he said that Apple’s focus to the device is the same purpose as an iPhone but not an all day device, making it likely that this will not replace the iPhone. And he is told that the virtual world like the Metaverse is off-limits from Apple.

Second and third, he reported that Apple is getting ready for its first virtual Apple event for this year: the March or April Event to announce the new iPhone SE. He also gave out codenames for this year’s upcoming operating systems that will be announced this year’s WWDC:

  1. rOS (for Apple AR/VR Headset) is codenamed “Oak” ‬(making it likely that the Mixed reality headset will be announced here)

  2. ‪iOS/iPadOS 16 is codenamed “Sydney”‬

  3. ‪macOS 13 is codenamed “Rome”‬

  4. ‪tvOS 16 is codenamed “Paris”‬

  5. and watchOS 9 is codenamed “Kincaid”

The rest of what he said in his newsletter is the same information as what he said in the MacRumors podcast which you can read here.
